New York State Deer Hunting: Changes in Laws

Notice of new laws governing minimum size of antlers, that will be in force 2017-2018 whitetail deer hunting season in New York State. NYS Environmental Conservation Law § 11-0914, Subdivision 1; Subdivision 2.

It’s a hot topic, and personally, I pass on many small racked buck, but there are so many hunters who for numerous reasons, would harvest the animal. I have always wondered why, in quite a few areas, jacking, and poaching, by locals and transients, continues, and nothing is ever done with enforcement. It ruins respect for hunting laws and ethics.

With the new hunting laws in place, remember to, Measure Twice, Cull Once.
