A clever way to bring light into a dark shelter- using a water bottle

Here’s an idea that might work in certain situations, although I wouldn’t be cutting any holes in the top of my tarps and tents.

This idea came from somewhere over in the Philippines, I am having a hard time finding the source, but I think you get the idea just by the image.

To get light into a dark place they are taking a water filled plastic bottle (with bleach as an option to keep algae from growing) and cutting a hole into the roof and hanging the bottle in the hole.

Supposedly on a sunny day this puts out light equivalent to that of a 55w bulb.
