Stop The National Carry ‘Permit’ Movement

As I advocate for years, only CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY.

Give Me Liberty

H/T AmmoLand.

National Constitutional Carry is the only way to go.

“Gun Guys” Are Pushing In Wrong Direction. Misguided effort to restore rights can destroy rights. Will NRA, GOA and others get it right?

USA –-(Ammoland.com)-The lamestream media told you:

“Do you have a firearms carry permit Mr. Trump?”
“Yes.”

“Are you for law and order?”
“Yes. Law and order is very important.”

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The last thing you ever want is to have the federal government issuing national — or any — firearm carry permits.

The feds do not have this power. The feds should never have this power.

Your right to have a firearm anywhere in America should never depend on getting “papers” from any government, much less the federal powers in Washington, D.C.

If you have a gun — constitutionally protected private property — and you aren’t doing anything…

Certain Remington 700 Rifles Subject To Voluntary Recall

Please help me spread the word about this recall.

USA-(Ammoland.com)- You may be eligible to have your firearm retrofitted or receive other benefits.

Recently, a federal judge ordered the parties in an economic-loss class action to remind owners of certain Remington firearms that a settlement has been reached. The settlement involves two classes.

The first class includes owners of firearms that utilize a trigger connector. The second class includes owners of firearms that utilize the X-Mark Pro trigger mechanism that is the subject of a voluntary safety recall.

The settlement allows owners of Remington models 700, Seven, and related models to have their trigger replaced free of charge, among other benefits.

The settlement was entered following allegations that Remington firearms can fire without a trigger pull. Remington denies those allegations with respect to the trigger connector but is offering trigger replacements to ensure continued satisfaction for its…

Statistics About Civilian Deadly Force Encounters

Interesting Analysis From Active Self Protection

I’ve watched about 5,000 gunfights at this point, and the patterns that emerge are pretty clear. Some thoughts you might want to consider that I don’t think that the training community really wants to hear:

1. Most gunfights aren’t entangled gunfights. Empty-handed skills are important, but very rare once the gun comes out. They’re necessary for LE more than CCW, by a long shot. For CCW, empty-handed skills are critical for the 80% of assaults that don’t rise to the level of deadly force response. So go to your martial arts training.

2. Reloads are almost vanishingly insignificant factors in gunfights. I have seen precisely 2 reloads in a real gunfight that weren’t on-duty LEO. And neither of those affected the outcome of the fight. I have seen about 7 or 8 where a higher capacity firearm or the presence of a reload might…

“Youth” Guns For Self-Defense

A fabulous rifle, in shorter “Youth” configuration. It is also a wonderful size for people 5′ 5″ or shorter, because I have seen many smaller people use youth rifles with deadly precision. For myself, at 6’0″, a reduced size rifle is like a handy carbine. There is no noticeable increase in recoil, nor any muzzle flip beyond normal. The caliber of .30-30, is a sweetheart and has put plenty of meat on tables, including my own table. Self defense, it is an excellent choice. Hunting, a superb choice up to 200 yards, anything beyond that is possible, but I would hold the range slight of where a shooter’s proficiency is. Whitetail and black bear, no problem. Hogs, too. My own preference is the .45-70 caliber, but a .30-30, I put plenty of lead out of the barrel over the years, and never lost my love of the caliber or the 336. In a youth model, it should build pride for the up-and-coming shooter, who carries what their father or grandfather is carrying. Women, are a natural with the 336 and caliber.
There is only one thing that I would do, and will be doing this year as I am reunited with a 336 that I sold a few decades ago and my cousin no longer desires any gun and wants to return it to me, the original owner, and that is, the walnut stock, I personally take the time to disassemble and give a couple coats of Watco Dark Danish Oil, and buff it out by hand, for a soft but resilient darkened finish. Like my Model-70, people are spellbound when they see the finish. Just be careful because boiled linseed oil (BLO) is in that finish and self-combustion is an issue.

The Armed Christian

John over at the Civilian Gunfighter blog brings up some really good points on this topic (link).

John’s Marlin 336Y

“Youth” models of shotguns and rifles like John’s Marlin 336Y offer a reduced length of pull and shorter barrel lengths making them lighter and more easily handled in tight situations. From that perspective there is a good argument for using them for self-defense. I have often thought about picking up a rifle just like the author’s to use when stalk hunting through thick brush.

On the other hand, the shorter barrels and lighter weight can often result in increased muzzle blast and recoil. These are less than conducive to effective use in self-defense situations.

Standard AR-15s offer similar advantages in terms of weight and length without the trade-off in recoil but muzzle blast will still be a downside.

So, what are your thoughts on youth models for self-defense?

WILL INDIANA ABOLISH REQUIRED CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS?

Give Me Liberty

H/T Tea Party Action Network.

I hope Indiana will become a Constitutional Carry State.

We need to keep the pressure on the State Legislature especially Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma.

Many states realized that Second Amendment and gun rights advocates would continue to push and push until citizens were allowed to carry concealed weapons in many public places as a means of self-defense. However, liberals insisted on maintaining some control over citizens being armed so they compromised in allowing the creation of concealed carry permits. This allowed them to know everyone who applied for and obtained a concealed carry permit. It was another form of gun registration which many Second Amendment and gun rights advocates are against. Yet, they compromised by agreeing to a permit system.

Now, Second Amendment and gun rights advocates have been attacking the constitutional legality of requiring citizens to obtain a permit in order to exercise…

Living Off The Land: Reality Check

The Armed Christian

I can’t count the number of times I have heard someone say that they don’t need to worry about storing food because they will “live off the land.” A lot of the time I hear this from guys who spend thousands of dollars per year on gear, a lease, food plots, feed, and fuel in order to bag a couple of deer each season; maybe a couple hundred pounds of meat. Which they field dress (maybe) and then take to a butcher or “processor” to be turned into usable food products.

Small game such as squirrel and rabbit seem to be a staple fall back position for some. I bet they haven’t stopped to consider how many calories are to be had from squirrels (about 130-135) or rabbits (around 800). I doubt many have calculated how many of them it would take to provide enough daily calories for a highly active individual, like…

Rice as emergency food.

Additional survival tricks

Rice takes up not much storage space. 5kg of rice is just a small bag. The bag can provide energy (carbohydrate) food to a 60kg person for about one week. The food still needs to be supplemented with protein food (meat, for muscles building) from other sources.

1.00Kg of raw rice turns into 2.56kg of cooked rice. That is the raw rice has only about one third of the weight of of the cooked meal.  It is easy to carry. All you need to turn any raw rice into cooked rice is just clear, fresh water and fuel to boil it for about 20 minutes (or 10 minutes using a pressure cooker).

Asian armies have been using rice as their transportable energy food since ancient time to present time. Those army people eat rice supplemented with locally picked vegetables and freshly caught fish or shrimps or meat as their sustainable full…

SIG has found through extensive factory testing that in extremely rare instances, not reported in the field and extremely difficult to replicate, a condition may exist causing an unintended discharge.

Sig advises to stop using the MCX immediately, register your firearm on their website if you haven’t already done so, then initiate the process and view a video explaining how to change out your carriage assembly.

I tried calling Sig this afternoon and wasn’t able to get through to a representative after being on hold for 20 minutes.

It is amazing that self-help teaches about surrounding yourself with successful people, the point is successful people know how to make it work.  Americans have been struggling for the last eight years and don’t realize they have been under siege mentally.  Successful people like WINNING.  Our new President-elect is not just successful, he’s a business man and America is a business that should be ran by a business person.

Valley Forge “Feet & legs froze till they became black … often necessary to amputate them.”

PUMABydesign001's Blog

American Minuteby William Federer

Washington lost the Battle of Brandywine on September 11, 1777, and was force to retreat toward Philadelphia.

British General Burgoyne’s troops marched down from Canada through New York, but were amazingly forced to surrender to the Americans at the Battle of Saratoga, October 7, 1777.

British General Howe struck back in a fury, driving the patriots out of Philadelphia–America’s largest city and busiest port.

Philadelphia was effectively the capitol of the United States. In European warfare, when an army captured it enemy’s capitol, the war was considered over.

Rather than surrender, the Continental Congress quickly evacuated Philadelphia.

They even took the down the Liberty Bell and carried it with them so the British could not melt it into musket balls.

Congress’ last order, December 12, 1776, was:

“… until Congress shall otherwise order, General Washington shall be possessed of full power to order

The Last Savage

The Alternate Reality

I should qualify the title. The pistol of which I write is the last production variation of the Savage Model 1907 pistol in .32 ACP. The Savage 1910 and 1917 were still in production until the middle 1920s or so and Savage continues to build rifles to this day. Savage made the Model 101, a single shot .22 pistol made to look like a single action revolver for about 10 years in the 1960s. They also made a Model 502 Striker pistol, which is a pistol length bolt action single shot in choice of .22 long rifle, .22 WRM or .17 rimfire something. It was a fairly recent arm, but is not on the Savage Arms site, so I presume it is no longer in production. (I don’t follow ‘new’ guns much.)

However, the Savage model 1907. variant 19, modification 2 was the last of the models 1907. According to…

Three “Friends” Hit The Range

Midwestern Ramblings

Today provided the opportunity for three friends of mine to leave the safe and hit the range. My first friend has been with me since 2006, my Kimber Custom Target. The other two are fairly new to me, my XD Mod.2 Tactical and my “yet to be shot by me” FNP-45. While the main purpose of today’s trip was to see how the FNP-45 would perform on its initial voyage to the range, I had a lot of fun with the others as well.

First, the FNP-45. This pistol handles nicely and I will say the lightweight polymer frame does translate into a little more felt recoil than with my 1911s, although it’s not objectionable. I shot both factory Sellier & Bellot 230 gr FMJ and some of my own 200 gr SWC loads. The S&B loads had a lot more “punch”, which resulted in the FNP felling a little…

Gun Control Advocates Find a Deep-Pocketed Ally in Big Law – The New York Times

2nd Amendment, Shooting & Firearms Blog

Gun Rights Advocates have to stay Vigilant because the Gun Control ANTI’s are NOT going to give up or roll-over!  They will stop at nothing to “INFRINGE” on our Constitutional rights and will incrementally continue to try and gain ground in any way they can.

Remember in their minds the END justifies the “Means” even if it means trampling all over the Constitution and Bill of Rights!

Court OKs Waiting Period For Existing California Gun Owners — CBS Sacramento

California’s policy of withholding weapons for 10 days from buyers who previously purchased a gun and cleared a background check before the state’s waiting period is a reasonable safety precaution that does not violate the Second Amendment, a federal appeals court said Wednesday.

Self-Defense: Front Kick to the Groin…

Trigger Reset

TriggerReset.net Wants You to be Safe…

What You Should Know:

  • This kick is simple, and can cause an attacker great pain and injury…
  • It works on male and female attackers…
  • It’s a fast attack, and difficult to stop…
  • It may take a few seconds for the pain to register, so this is a kick that opens the attacker up for another strike or kick…
  • Watch the videos, and practice. It takes about 2,000 – 3,000 repetitions to instill “muscle memory” so that the movement is automatic. If you train twice a week for twenty minutes and do 20 of these kicks each session, in twelve months you will have done over 2000 repetitions…
  • When you train, don’t over-extend your knee joint…

Another look. If you develop the power this gentleman has, you WILL get a reaction from an attacker…

How effective can this kick be? Watch…

“I Never Thought I’d Have To Shoot Somebody, But I’m Glad I Had My Rifle”

Give Me Liberty

H/T Bearing Arms.

A rifle saved two lives.

A 42-year-old Springfield (MO) man forced his way into another man’s home and learned the hard way that centerfire rifle bullets are barrier-blind.

A 63-year-old man said his deer rifle saved his life and the lives of two other people Tuesday night after he fatally shot a man who had broken into his house in northwest Springfield.

Mark Glidewell said he never thought he would have to shoot somebody, but he believes he made the right decision to pull the trigger when he said 42-year-old Charlie M. Ingram broke a pane of glass and climbed through a window in Glidewell’s kitchen.

Ingram, of Springfield, died at a hospital, according to a news release from Springfield police.

The release said the incident took place at about 9:21 p.m. Tuesday on the 1500 block of North Golden Avenue. When Glidewell spoke to the News-Leader Wednesday morning, he said…

Check You Bags And Your Gear Regularly

The Armed Christian

Over the last few years I have developed a habit of replacing the batteries in equipment like smoke detectors, flashlights and optics every January. Fresh batteries every year is a small cost to ensure that equipment that I am literally betting my life on will work when I need them to.

I used to be pretty good about inspecting the contents of my get home bag and my EDC (every day carry) bag regularly as well. Since I started working from home I don’t go nearly as often or for as long. As a result I have gotten a little lazy about inspecting these of late.

Over the last few weeks this laziness has bitten me on my proverbial rear end on couple of occasions.

For example, I keep a few supplies for making simple repairs in my EDC bag. It’s not a full toolkit or anything just a multi-tool, a…

What Did You Prep This Week?

The Armed Christian

This was another light week for us.

We bought more batteries; 9 volt batteries for the smoke detectors, CR123 batteries for weapon mounted lights and flashlights in our go bags and CR2032 batteries for our optics mounted on self-defense firearms. I try and replace the batteries in all devices we might be betting our lives on every January.

Battery Bonanza! Battery Bonanza!

Since I stocked up on ammo last week we bought primers for reloading this week; 100 each of Small Pistol, Small Rifle and Large Rifle.

I also have a batch of 100 .38 Special practice rounds that I am in the process of reloading. All I have left to do it add the powder and seat the bullets. Hopefully, I will finish those up next week.

I bought some power bars to replace the outdated granola bars in both my get home bag and my EDC bag.

That’s it for me. That’s…

XD-9 Mod.2 Tactical:  The Humble Marksman?

Midwestern Ramblings

Today’s market is flooded with striker-fired polymer pistols. In fact, I just read a review of a new offering by CZ where the author claimed it to be a “problem solver” for the handgun market. That comment left me perplexed, as I wondered “what problem is this new pistol solving?” Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not bashing CZ products or predicting they aren’t going to bring a wonderful pistol to the shooting public. However, when thinking about what is unique about it, I’m left blank. When Springfield announced their Mod.2 revision of the XD platform earlier this year, I had a similar reaction: ”Yawn… an XD with a recontoured slide and grip with some no-snag sights.” That is, until I starting thinking further.

Years ago, I purchased a gently-used stainless XD-40 service model at a pawn shop. I was looking for something in .40 as an alternative to a…
