What happened 100 years ago was terrible, there is no doubt. But I think we all, Politicians included, need to heed the example this bloody period of border history teaches us. The lesson here is not that we all need to just “to acknowledge the bloodshed.” Just Acknowledging something terrible happened is pointless if you don’t CHANGE anything! The REAL lesson here (that is if you don’t want this kind of thing to happen again) is If you let things go too long without finding a viable and practical solution, like with the current immigration problem, people who have to live and raise a family and work along the border WILL FIND a solution, and most of the time it will not be pretty and politically correct.
That is the historical imperative at work folks…let us all heed it.
