R3: Innovation in 1893. Led up to the blank firing muzzle cap for the M1 Garand. The pre-smokeless powder rifles are not anything desirable as far as shooting goes, as bolts were push to cock, steel was soft, bolt heads were balloon heads, trigger weights around twelve pounds (like NYPD’s current trigger), a creeping and stacking trigger in two stage. Nice to look at, but I would rather no visit that stuff again. Between WW1 and WW2, that was when rifles began to get nicer, functionally. I had a k98 Mauser in 8×57, and all I ever did to it was have an aperture receiver sight installed. That old rifle was the only one where whenever I took it out for a walk, half hour later, I always filled my tag.
